Setting the Stage

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire are the 2014, generation VI (3DS) remakes of the original Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire that were released in 2002 for the Gameboy Advance. The main plot is more or less the same: The player is the son or daughter of the new Petalburg Gym Leader, who just moved his family to the Hoenn region from Johto. There, the player meets Professor Birch and his son or daughter (opposite gender of the player), receives his/her very first Pokémon from the Hoenn trio—Treecko, Mudkip or Torchic, and sets out on a journey of his/her own. Along the way, the player has increasing encounters with either Team Magma or Team Aqua, depending on which game they are playing. Team Magma seeks to use the legendary Groudon's power to create more land and decrease the region's waters, while Team Aqua wishes to use Kyogre to increase the sea's capacity and lessen the land. However, both Groudon and Kyogre now have the ability for Primal Reversion, which allows them to revert to their more powerful, primal forms. It is up to the player to defeat or capture the ancient Pokémon in order to foil Team Magma or Team Aqua's plans!

The Delta Episode

The series of events that take place after the player defeats the Elite Four and becomes the new Hoenn Champion is called The Delta Episode. The player meets a strange woman named Zinnia upon returning home. She seems to know all about the player despite them never actually meeting! The player soon finds out that Zinnia is stealing Key Stones from various people, though doesn't know why. Steven, the previous Champion, informs the player of impending disaster soon after. A meteoroid large enough to destroy all of Hoenn is headed right toward them! It's only a matter of days before it hits. The Devon Corporation plans to collaborate with the scientists at the Mossdeep Space Center to devise a plan using Infinity Energy in order to transport the meteoroid elsewhere. Zinnia, however, has her own plans to destroy the meteoroid. The player finds themselves torn between requests from both Steven and Zinnia as events unfold. Just how is all of this tied to the Great War from 3000 years ago? What is the connection to the legendary Rayquaza? The Delta Episode is a story of history, loss, balance and hope for the future.
